The witnesses were William Hill and James Barnetson.9,10 Helen Barnetson and William Calder appeared in the 1861 census at Scalesburn, Wick, Caithness, ,, when the family of three were living in three rooms.11 Helen Barnetson and William Calder appeared in the 1871 census at Scales Burn, Wick, Caithness, ,, where William, Helen and a servant, Jane Sutherland, were living in 3 rooms.12 She was listed as a member of the household of George McAdie in the 1871 census at Castletown Mid Mains, Bower, Caithness, .13 Her daughter Margaret died on 1 October 1872 at Scalesburn, Wick, Caithness, , at age 41; at 8.45 am. The cause of death was cancer of the stomach which she had had for 8 months; certified by John Alexander, physician and surgeon and registered by her father.14 As of before 20 March 1876, Helen Barnetson was also known as Ellen.2 She died on 20 March 1876 at Scalesburn, Wick, Caithness, ; at 8:00 am. The cause of death was chronic bronchitis 2 years, as certified by John Alexander, physician and surgeon.2,1
