     Robert Young was born circa 1849 at Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, .2 He was christened on 26 March 1849 at Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, .3 He was the son of Andrew Young and Margaret Smith.1 He was listed in the 1851 census at Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, ,, when the family were living with two lodgers: James Dick aa 67-year-old former quarrier and William Russell a 33-year-old stone mason.2 He was listed as a member of the household of Andrew Young in the 1861 census at Chapelpark, Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, .4 Robert Young was a scholar on 8 April 1861 at Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, .4 His mother Margaret Smith died on 14 December 1867 at Chapelton, Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, ; at 9.50pm. The cause of death was severe burns from fire (20 hours) certified by John Turnbull, Surgeon and registered by her husband Andrew.1,5,6 Robert Young registered the death of Andrew Young on 14 June 1886 at Combination Poorhouse, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, ; at 1.00 pm.
