The witnesses were John Broom and Julia Wighton.22 Elisabeth McGhieappeared in the 1881 census at Glengall, Ayr, Ayrshire, ,, a patient (lunatic).23 Her son James married Barbara Guthrie on 19 September 1881 at 3 Waterside Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, ; after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland by John Thomson, Minister of St Marnocks. The witnesses were Joseph Bent and Jessie Smith.24,25 Her son Robert died on 14 October 1887 at 16 Eddlewood Buildings, Lowwaters, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, , at age 33; at 10.35 am. The cause of death was chronic bronchitis, certified by R H Robertson and registered by his brother David. His death was accelerated by and accident in Eddlewood Colliery on 12 October 1887.26,27,28 Her child Agnes died on 5 February 1889 at 13 Morton Place, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, , at age 54; about 3.00 am. She was found dead in bed, the cause of death was suffocation; certified by James Rankine, surgeon and registered by her son John McGee.29 Elisabeth McGhie died on 5 March 1890 at Ayr District Asylum, Ayr, Ayrshire, , at age 77; at 9:30 am. The cause of death was influenza 14 days & bronchitis; certified by Fred Watson MB.6 As of 1900, Elisabeth McGhie was also known as ? McGee.7
